An ongoing priority at Toppan Merrill is to continuously expand the capabilities of our technology solutions to support customer requirements. The global pandemic has put a lot of additional stress on professionals who work in financial reporting and regulatory compliance. So the Product Management team dug in to build new features and make significant upgrade to existing functionality. Those features are all highlighted in the Gemini release, but I wanted to highlight a couple of the key updates.

First, you may have seen the recent addition of SOX Automation tools to the Bridge platform. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Automating manual processes is a tried-and-true way to give time back when you need it most and this new offering does just that. Users are especially pleased with the ease and simplicity of SOX control documentation and execution, and the inclusion of system generated workflows to keep Control Owners focus on critical path tasks. While Sarbanes-Oxley compliance remains a very complex subject, our SOX experts are standing by to answer your questions. Adding brand new offerings is great, but we are also working to improve existing tools. The Product Development team has been particularly focused on improving the user experience in Bridge, with a focus on some of the most used features in the Bridge product ecosystem. Upgrades highlighted in the Gemini release, include the new EDGAR-filing proof option and upgrades to the Excel Linking functionality.

  1. In just a couple of clicks, Bridge users now have complete control over filings Proofs removing unnecessary steps and accelerating proofing cycles.
  2. There were several platform infrastructure improvements made to the Excel linking functionality. One key improvement is that users are now able to navigate from their Bridge Folio directly to the named range in the supporting Excel linking file – saving time and avoiding any confusion.
  3. The 2021 US-GAAP taxonomy brought several new updates including extensible enumerations, typed dimension support, plus element extensions and anchoring. Bridge will be fully ready for filers to meet those requirements when they move to the 2021 taxonomy.

The Bridge development roadmap is full of new, exciting items based on specific feedback from Bridge users. On that list are significant upgrades to our SEC filing engine that are currently going through final testing and QA protocols. I look forward to sharing more details on these features in the coming months.
